- In considering whether or not we should introduce 29ers into our product range, it was clear right away that one category where big wheels make sense is fully rigid riding where many off road miles are being covered and without the fuss, servicing demands, or back country reliability risks of suspension forks.
This will be the first range of 29ers in the Genesis line-up. A rigid specific steel frame and fork, based around a 445mm axle to crown length, ensuring the front end stays nice and low. A relatively slack head angle (69.5 degrees) gives a super stable ride and despite the rigid fork this is a very capable singletrack destroyer.
We will offer 3 builds on this bike, a singlespeed, a geared model and an Adventure/Expedition model featuring Alfine 11 internal hub gears and every mount/eyelet/boss you could ever think of to fit racks, mudguards, sleeping bag holders etc.
FORTITUDE ADVENTURE
This was the hardest specto decide upon. A bike that potentially could be out in the wilds for a few weeks so reliability being the main thing. In the end it had to be ALFINE 11. Everything is safe and sound in the rear hub, its safe from bangs and knocks, it doesnt need much love and again its patible with. Ideal for a few days bike camping.
The Fortitude is our rigid specific mountain bike, you can’t run it with suspension. A relatively slack head angle gives a super stable ride and despite the rigid fork this is a very capable singletrack destroyer.
There is a joy to be had in fully rigid riding, it is a form of mountain biking where you are directly connected to the trail, every shift of your body weight, every dab of the brake lever, every pedal stroke, they all count, it’s a simple but beautiful and rewarding way to ride. In an industry where we are always being sold the latest technology sometimes you just want to escape and it’s amazing just how much fun a rigid bike can be. You will become fast, you will start relying on skills you forget you even had and rather than just charging through obstacles on the latest front or fully suspended bike, you will have to pick your lines, learn how to read the trail again and become a better rider for it.
The Adventure model is Ideal for a few days bike camping, or loading up for an Epic long distance Cross Border expedition. When it came to deciding how to gear this bike, it could only be Alfine 11 speed, it’s proven itself time after time, mile after mile and so it’s the perfect companion on epic back country adventures. - Reynolds 725 Steel
